It was 1963 when a strapping young soldier stationed in Heidelberg, Germany saw a beautiful German girl across a dance floor. What followed could only be described as an inspiring and true love story. They instantly fell in love, married within a few months, and built a loving family.
Larry David Flemming was born on June 26, 1943 in East Palestine, Ohio to parents George A. and Ethel Mae Hartman Flemming. He brought his hardworking nature to his service in the U.S. Army and 513th Military Intelligence Division and career in the petroleum service industry.
On the morning of September 4th, after a courageous battle with cancer, Larry passed from the loving arms of his wife of 53 years into those of his Heavenly Father.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings George, Jimmy, Janet, Wilma, William, Kenneth and Ethel. He is survived by his devoted wife Ilse Martha Flemming, children Bellinda Flemming Minkner and Christopher Flemming, their spouses, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Larry will be laid to rest with military honors at Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Donations can be made in Larry’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
